Dr. Tupman is a native of the Niagara Region, having been raised in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
As a biology major at Brock, Dr. Tupman maintained a spot on the Dean’s list, graduated after three years, and was accepted for study at the University of Toronto Dental School. Dr. Tupman graduated from Dental School with the Joseph Harker Johnson award for excellence in Oral Surgery and Anaesthesia, and certification in Nitrous Oxide sedation. Captain Tupman then served four years as a dentist with the Canadian Armed Forces, based in Petawawa, Ontario. During his time in the military he provided comprehensive dental care to the men and women of the armed forces during the day, and in the evenings worked in private practice two nights a week providing care for the general non-military population. Upon completion of his military duty in June of 2009, Dr. Tupman returned to the Niagara region where he and his wife Joy, and their two daughters happily reside.
Dr. Tupman has a keen interest in Dentistry, and maintains membership in the Ontario Dental Association (ODA), the Niagara Peninsula Dental Association (NPDA), the Hamilton Dental Academy (HAD). He very actively pursues continuing education for his own enjoyment, and for the benefit of his patients. He has given lectures on radiation safety, and vital pulp therapy, and has attended a wide range of lectures covering issues such as ethics, temporo-mandibular (jaw) disorders, management of soft tissue wounds, and comprehensive treatment planning.
Dr. Tupman is trained in all aspects of general dentistry including cosmetics, crown and bridge, dentures, root canals and tooth removal. Beyond which he is also trained in surgical dental implant placement, bone grafting and periodontal regenerative procedures and impacted wisdom tooth removal, allowing him to provide a very broad spectrum of treatment for his patients.
