Welcome to our frequently asked questions section! While we cannot answer each and every question you or your child may have (such as “How many teeth does a platypus have?”), this page does try to answer some of the most common dental questions. 

If you have a particular question that isn’t answered within our FAQ section please feel free to contact us at either of our Hamilton or Niagara, Ontario dentist offices. By the way, the answer is “Zero.”; in lieu of teeth, duck-billed platypuses scoop gravel into their bills to chomp up hard foods.

Q: Does your dental office see children?

A: Yes, absolutely! We have services available for patients of all ages.

Q: What services are available at your office?

A: We offer everything you could expect at a family dental office, as well as dental implants, surgery, Invisalign®, and denture services. For a (nearly) complete list of our services, visit our Services page.

Q: Do you accept dental emergencies and walk-in patients?

A: We do our best to accommodate the needs of all patients. If you have a dental emergency, please give us a call so we can ready our staff for your arrival. Our phone numbers can be found on the Niagara and Hamilton pages. All emergencies are seen the same day.

Q: Will your office take my insurance?

A: Our office will submit your claims to your insurance company and assist you in any way we can with any questions you may have about your dental coverage. In most cases insurance companies remit payment directly to our office. We also accept government assisted plans such as ODSP, Ontario Works, Cinot, and Healthy Smiles.

Q: Can I get an evening appointment?

A: Yes, we have morning, afternoon, evening, and Saturday appointment options available.

Q: Do you offer sedation dentistry?

A: Patients with dental anxieties and those undergoing extensive dental work may be offered nitrous oxide (“laughing gas”) sedation or a sedative in the form of an oral tablet. If you have dental anxieties, please let us know in advance so we can make your appointment as comfortable as possible.

Q: Are root canals painful?

A: This is a common worry. It seems everyone knows someone who has a root canal horror story. Don’t be misled! We routinely provide root canal treatments and can assure you that during the procedure your gums are very well frozen so any pain is kept to an absolute minimum. Our experience has always been that patients are pleasantly surprised by how painless a root canal can be.

Q: Do I need to be put under to have my wisdom teeth taken out?

A: Absolutely not. We routinely take out impacted wisdom teeth with freezing only. Our patients’ gums are well-frozen and you should not feel any pain throughout the duration of the procedure.

Q: Is there parking nearby?

A: Yes, both Hamilton and Niagara offices offer free parking.

Q: Is your office wheelchair-accessible?

A: To accommodate the needs of all patients, each office is wheelchair-accessible.
